Sports Day

On Friday 30th June the Prep School were ready and raring to go for KS1 and KS2 Sports Day.

The morning started with the throwing and jumping events, with every girl having the opportunity to participate for either Celts, Danes and Saxons. Having checked the weather forecast and thinking we were clear of rain, the heavens opened. Nevertheless, with our new all weather pitch we could continue without any delay and the girls showed resilience and grit and carried on regardless of a very wet high jump mat, and feeling rather damp!

We headed into the track events with the scores between the houses very close!

We had some fantastic times in the sprints and the Year 1 and 2 girls loved participating in the obstacle course. The long distance events saw the girls demonstrating fantastic endurance and the girls battled it out in the 600 and 800 metres.

The relays ran very smoothly and with fantastic change overs and excellent displays of team work, the houses battled it out in good spirits.

Whilst the scores were being tallied up, we were excited to announce that the new captains for our sports for 2017-2018 are-

Games Captains- Grace  and Harriet

Gymnastics Captain- Violet

Vice Gymnastics Captain- Scarlet

Swimming Captain- Constance

Vice Swimming Captain- Evie

Cross country Captain- Alice

We will announce the summer sports captains in the coming year, once we have taken into account the rest of this years sports fixtures.

The final results for sports day saw a victory for Saxons, with Celts second and Danes in third.

Thank you to the Prep Staff and PE department for ensuring the smooth running of the day.
