Safer Internet Day

As we return from our Christmas break, many of us will have received new gadgets as gifts over the festive season. Whether it is a new iPhone, tablet or smart watch, adults and children alike will be excitedly showing off their new ‘toys’ to their friends and colleagues.  The rapid development of technology opens up many exciting avenues for us, enabling us to monitor our health, organise our week and communicate easily with others. There is no denying that the positives of technology massively outweigh the negatives and so it is our duty as parents and teachers to ensure that the young people in our care develop a clear understanding of how to stay safe and resilient as they become more independent in their use of online tools.

Safer Internet Day (SID) takes place every year on February 6th. This year the slogan is , “Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you”. On this day, girls in both the Prep and Senior Schools will focus on how they can be respectful and supportive online citizens, as well as looking at how they can develop their resilience in the world of social media.
