Kate Richardson-Walsh

On 21st June, Team GB double Hockey Olympic medallist, Kate Richardson-Walsh, visited Kent College to celebrate the annual Team Dinner at High Rocks. It was a terrific occasion full of celebration over the year’s achievements and a delight to listen to inspirational Kate about her rise to athletic glory.  The evening was a perfect way to celebrate the outstanding individual and team successes achieved by Kent College pupils on the sports field this year.

Kate led sessions on the Astro Pitch for girls in Years 3 to 8 before answering Sport Scholars’ and hockey players' questions. Kate shared her wealth of experience and knowledge from playing a record 375 times for her country and being the England and Great Britain Captain for 13 years. During her time with the girls she spoke about her journey to the Rio winning Olympic Gold. Kate currently serves as an ambassador for the Women’s Sport Trust, strongly supports disability hockey as an ambassador for Access Sport and sits on the British and European Olympic Athlete’s commissions.

Mrs Georgie Hughes, Director of Sport, commented: "Kate is an inspiration to all sports men and woman and for our girls to spend the day with her is something they will never forget. Whether they took advice from Kate about sports psychology, nutrition, the performance pathway or about being the best version of themselves, she has motivated and encouraged our girls to dream big. This has reassured me that Kent College is providing the right opportunities to support our girls on this journey.

Thank you to Squadkit for providing this opportunity. We have been working for the last year designing our new PE kit with Squadkit and we cannot wait for the girls to be in this comfortable, current and smart new sports range in September."
